  • Mission Oak Grill:  Newburyport  978-463-9009  A converted church now restaurant and function hall, located next door to our hotel,  has a stunning ballroom available for functions ranging in size from 60 to 250 guests. They offer full service event coordination.
  • David's Tavern: Newburyport  978-462-8077  Located inside the Garrison Inn, David's can accommodate intimate to medium sized parties with a maximum limit of 100 guests.  Rehearsal dinners are a specialty as well as weddings, baby & bridal showers.  David's is an excellent place to have a business meal or company holiday party.
  • The Phoenix Room: Newburyport  978-463-3301  Exclusively attended to by Harborside Catering, the Phoenix Room offers a charming 17th century restored stage for your special event.  This hidden gem boasts twenty-foot ceilings, arched windows and working fireplaces, making it a beautiful location for weddings, corporate functions or holiday parties.
  • Georgetown Country Club: Georgetown  978-463-9009  Accommodates 30-350 people, their facility combines the beauty of New England with the ambiance of a luxurious country club.  Features 2 ballrooms with cathedral ceilings, walls of windows, huge dance floors, and outdoor balconies that overlook their championship golf course.

  • Plum Island Beach:  Just 2 miles from our hotel you'll find one of New England's most beautiful beaches.  Plum Island is a barrier Island off the shore of Newburyport and boasts 11 miles of un-spoiled sandy beach.

Theater

  • Firehouse Center for the Performing Arts This historic building built as a market house and lyceum by the citizens of Newburyport in 1823 served as the Central Fire Station from the mid 1800s until 1980.  Located on the waterfront in historic downtown Newburyport, the Firehouse features an expansive art gallery; the intimate 195 seat Arakelian Theater which presents dance, concerts, drama, musicals, film, new works and children's programming.

Parks & Gardens

  • Parker River National Wildlife Preserve:  A wonderful place to spend the day walking and exploring.  Established in 1942 primarily to provide feeding, resting, and nesting habitat for migratory birds.  The bird refuge consists of 4,662 acres of diverse upland and wetland habitats including sandy beach and dune, shrub/thicket, bog, swamp, freshwater marsh, salt marsh and associated creek, river, mud flat, and salt panne.
  • Maudsley State ParkThe former Moseley family estate on the Merrimack River, this park features 19th century gardens and plantings, rolling meadows and towering pines.  Maudsley State Park has excellent trails for walking and biking.  (978) 465-7223 Located at Curzon Mill Road off Route 113 (High Street), Newburyport.

 

Boating Tours and Cruises

  • Newburyport Whale Watch Whale watches are 4 to 4 1/2 hours.  Reservations are strongly recommended.  They require a credit card for reservations.  978-499-0832  Departs from the the boardwalk. 

  • Yankee Clipper Harbor Tours departs from the boardwalk.  978-462-9316 
    If you're interested in history, ecology, navigation, and a little bit of humor all rolled into one, then this is the trip for you.  The voyage takes about an hour over a six-mile course.  Great slow trip for smaller children or senior citizens.

Transportation

  • Enterprize rent-a-car: All drivers must have a valid U.S., Canadian, or foreign driver's license. An International Driver's Permit is required with all non-English foreign licenses. All drivers must have a major credit card in their own name and be at least 21 years of age or older.
